The Value of a Still if TSHTF....
 

I would think that for those of you expecting some sort of Mad Max type of situation in the future...a "hard landing" as it were....a still would be a very good investment.

I would think that liquor would be a very valuable commodity in which to trade before things stabilize and a rudimentary monetary system is established.....

You can keep your gold and silver coins buried and trade in booze until then.....

And let's not forget the usefulness of a Molotov cocktail.......

When life is tough, people seek refuge in booze. If you make a large business of it, you can become quite wealthy.

Do you really want a bunch of alkies with the DTs finding out you got liquor and showing up at your door demanding your hooch...and they ain't got nothing to trade? :thumpdown

And what happens when they decide that THEY need your hooch more than YOU do...:rant:

They might CAMP OUT on your front lawn...until you decide to be a little more generous with your stash...:banghead:

The argument is no different from the folks here who claim that ammo is a great SHTF value.

Or PM's for that matter.

If you are planning on a SHTF scenario, after some time, it will involve trade of some sort. Pick your poison.

I was thinking of using alcohol in terms of trading it with folks trying to coopt my own self-sufficient homestead.....

I do not plan on becoming the local purveyor of booze....

With some proper preparation....I won't need to let the alkies even know about my deal.....

Uber, making your own stuff would be okay.

During an extreme crisis, I do not recommend anyone trade any weapons, knives, firearms, ammo, HOoCH, drugs, gasoline, kerosene, matches, etc..GET THE PICTURE? Keep it to yourself.

I seriously doubt desperate people will be civil...Where exactly will you offer up your wares for trade? At the local flea market? Bringing such items to your local flea market would alert the deadbeats, punks, criminals as to your goods and they well may follow you home. Then what?

Ammunition I would keep to myself...to be used on any criminals who showed up on my property.

SHTF will not bring out the best in people...

Imagine giving access to liquor to those poor folks stuck in the New Orleans Superdome.
